Peas, Beans & Lentils - Manitoba Pulse Growers Association
The Manitoba Pulse Growers Association (MPGA) is a producer organization working on behalf of Manitoba farmers who grow peas, beans, lentils, chickpeas and soybeans. The MPGA provides farmers with production and marketing support, through focused research, advocacy and linkages with industry partners.
Pulse growers are an important part of Manitoba's economy. Presently there are over 3500 pulse producers in Manitoba. Manitoba is the largest producer of dry beans in Canada producing approximately 50% of the dry bean crop. In 2003 we produced 6.5% of the Western Canadian dry pea crop, with much of the crop being used for livestock feed.
