About the partners who bring you Great Tastes of Manitoba and www.foodmanitoba.ca
Manitoba is in the unique position of having a cooperative relationship between the agricultural marketing boards, producer associations, and the department of agriculture. For over 20 years, we've pooled our resources, and shared expenses, to create events, activities and resources that promote Manitoba foods. Our projects include recipes booklets, a television cooking show and our newest creation, foodmanitoba.ca.
In 1995, we formalized this cooperative relationship under the name "Great Tastes of Manitoba", chosen to represent the group's major project, the television cooking show of the same name. As the audience grew for the television show, we realized the group needed a new name to avoid confusion with the show. In 2007 the we changed our name to The foodManitoba Group.
The foodManitoba Group (TfMG) is a not-for-profit group whose core members include Dairy Farmers of Manitoba, Manitoba Canola Growers Association, Manitoba Chicken Producers, Manitoba Egg Producers, Manitoba Pork Council, Manitoba Turkey Producers, Manitoba Cattle Producers, Manitoba Mushroom Growers, and Manitoba Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives. Participation in The foodManitoba Group projects is open to any Manitoba producer group. Our current projects include "Great Tastes of Manitoba" (now in its 19th season) and this web site.
