Beef - Manitoba Cattle Producers Association

The Manitoba Cattle Producers Association (MCPA) is a producer-driven, non-profit organization representing 10,000-plus producers involved in various aspects of the beef cattle industry, including the cow/calf, backgrounding and finishing sectors.

Manitoba's livestock industry is worth in excess of $500 million annually to the provincial economy. As of July 1, 2006, there were approximately 688,000 cattle on Manitoba farms, meaning Manitoba has the third largest herd in Canada.

Manitoba has a long history of cattle production. Many of Manitoba's cattle producers are second, third and fourth generation farmers who have extensive knowledge about the land on which they live. The livestock industry is responsible for creating thousands of direct and indirect jobs throughout Manitoba's economy.
